neu energy

Neu Energy & Maxamps are some of my favorite li-po R/C batteries! the perforformance and price are unmatched.

The Neu Energy batteries shown here are the 30/60C rate batteries. This means that they will give you 30 amps continous at 60 amps max, or burst. These batteries are of very high quality and they are making a big impact in the industry.

If you have been in this hoby for any amount of time I am sure you have heard of Maxamps. These batteries are pretty much everywhere. Maxamps offer a moderate quality battery at a very competitive price. Check out the links below to visit their website. These links go directly to the corresponding product page.

A-123 cells/batteries

A-123_Cells_Batteries

The A-123 cells are my personal favorites. These cells have some amazing attributes such as..

  • Extremely fast and very safe charge rates of up to 10 amps. (Example) 19.8-volt 2300mAh A-123 pack will charge from dead to full charge in about 23 minutes. Compared to an hour of charging the lipo batteries, and even longer with the NiMH batteries.
  • They are about 35% more cost effective compared to any other type of battery out there (if you build your own packs)
  • Runtimes are about the same as the 4200 mAh Nimh cells at only 2300mAh the reason being is that the A-123 cells are designed with better storage technology therefore blowing away the old nimhs
  • The weight is very comparable to the lipo batteries
  • 5x more safe than any lipo pack these cells can not and will not explode under any circumstance
  • These cells will last up to 1000 (cycles) or charges. Lipo will typically only last about 300-500 at most.

Even though these cells have a lot of pros there are some cons such as..

  • They are bulky in size and are not a good fit at all for some applications.
  • If you do not have the ability to put your own packs together they will not be cost effective at all.
  • These cells do not have the punch (power) that you will get out of a lipo battery. However, they are very comparable to a nimh in that aspect. But have more punch (power) than a nimh about 15% more power in fact.

A-123 summary

You can purchase a 36-volt dewalt battery pack for about $110.00 shipped to your door. This gives you 10 cells that you can build your own packs with.
